How to check in

Step 1: Find a device with internet access that has a camera and microphone

Step 2: Go to your provider’s Waiting Room by entering the web address they provided into your browser

Step 3: Check in by typing in your name and clicking the button

Step 4: Allow camera and microphone access

Step 5: You’re in! Your provider will start the call momentarily.

📸 As part of the check-in process, your provider may require a quick photo of you for visual identification. This helps confirm your identity for your appointment and is not stored. Ask your provider if you have any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my photo being taken at check-in?

Your picture is taken during check-in so your provider can confirm your identity, similar to how your photo ID may be checked at an in-person visit. This helps validate provider records, reduces clerical errors, and indicates that your camera is functioning properly for your virtual appointment.

Where will my provider see the photo?

Your provider will see your check-in photo and name displayed on your Patient Card. This is visible from your provider’s Waiting Room and during your virtual appointment.

Do I have control of when the photo is taken during check-in?

Yes, your photo is taken when you click the Check In button to advance in the check-in process.

Can I retake my photo during check-in?

No. This helps keep the check-in process quick.

Can I opt out of taking a photo?

Please speak with your provider directly about check-in requirements.

What is a temporary photo? How long is my photo stored?

Your check-in photo is automatically deleted two hours after you check in, which typically is after your appointment has ended. For users on our legacy platform, check in photos automatically delete after 24 hours after check in.

My check-in photo was taken at my last appointment. Why do I need to take another photo?

Check-in photos are taken at each appointment as a safety measure to help your provider confirm your identity.

Who should I talk with about photo requirements at check-in?

Please speak with your provider directly about check-in requirements.
