How to use adaptive video
Adaptive video is enabled automatically on doxy.me 2.0.
The definition of your video will increase and decrease in quality based on the reliability of your internet to help keep you connected. If your internet connection decreases to the point where it can’t support video, your appointment will continue with audio only.
Once your internet connection improves, video will resume automatically.
Running other programs while using doxy.me may impact the video quality.

Use the following keyboard shortcuts to increase and decrease your video quality. Results will vary depending on your internet connection strength.
Windows/Linux
Control + 1 to decrease video quality
Control + 2 to increase video quality
Mac
Control + 1 for Low Definition
Control + 2 for Standard Definition
Control + 3 for High Definition
Video definition levels explained
Your video quality will automatically move between the following definition levels.
Low Definition (LD)
Provides a reasonably clear picture, requires less bandwidth, and increases the chances of a stable call
💡 Recommended use case: A weekly telehealth check-in where close-up details of your patient are not required or when internet stability is a concern
Standard Definition (SD)
Provides a clearer picture, but requires more bandwidth and computer power than low definition
💡 Recommended use case: A patient consultation where observing quick facial expressions or physical features is needed
High Definition (HD)
Provides the clearest picture, but requires the most bandwidth and computer power
💡 Recommended use case: An appointment where fine details are essential for accurate assessment such as dermatology, wound care, or identifying non-verbal cues
Aspect ratios explained
For an immersive video experience, doxy.me 2.0 defaults to a widescreen video aspect ratio of 16:9.
To preserve bandwidth, your video may move to a 4:3 square screen video aspect ratio.
