Doxy.me is built to deliver clear audio even on low-bandwidth connections. However, audio issues like static, crackling, or background noise can still disrupt a session.

Top tips for better audio quality

  • If you hear an echo, use headphones or earbuds during a call. If you hear an echo it could be because your patient or provider's speakers are too loud, causing feedback.

  • Move to a quieter environment. This will allow your patient or provider to hear you more clearly. Move away from other wireless devices that might cause interference (like a Bluetooth speaker).

  • Check that no other applications on your device are also trying to access your microphone. When multiple programs try to access one microphone, there can be audio interference.

  • Put your device in "Do Not Disturb" mode. Before a session starts, try putting your device in "Do not disturb" mode. If you receive a phone call, it won't interrupt your session.

  • Use a wired headset or earphones. Wireless headsets typically use Bluetooth, which can cause interference. Try using a USB or an inline microphone.

  • Get close to your router. Being in close proximity to your internet source can help the signal be stronger. A stronger signal can reduce any audio issues you may be experiencing.

  • Mute yourself when you're not speaking. If your audio is playing through an external monitor or TV, your computer’s microphone may pick up that sound again, causing echo or garbled audio. To reduce this interference, try using headphones or mute yourself when you're not speaking.

  • Turn the overall volume down. If your audio sounds garbled on an iPhone, turn down the overall sound (rather than having it at full volume).
