Navigate the call layout
The call layout gives video, participant details, and controls dedicated areas to reduce visual clutter. Open the Sidebar when you need participant or Waiting Room information, or keep it closed to give your patient more viewing space.
Below is a quick walkthrough of what you’ll see and how to use it.
1. Video stays front and center
During your session, video remains fully visible at all times. No controls, panels, or menus sit on top of the video area, helping you stay focused on faces, body language, and connection.
Sidebar: Session participants and the Waiting Room
When a session begins, the Sidebar is closed. Easily open it by clicking the Participants button in the lower-left corner of the screen. Close it by using the X in the upper-right corner of the Sidebar.
Call starts with the Sidebar closed
Click the Participants button to open the Sidebar
After 5 seconds of no mouse movement, call controls will fade
The Sidebar includes:
In call with
At the top of the Sidebar, you’ll see everyone currently connected to your session.
From here, you can open a Patient Information Card to:
Send and receive chat messages
Confirm camera and microphone setup
View participant details at a glance
Waiting Room
Below the in-call list is the Waiting Room, where patients appear after checking in.
You can:
See who is waiting to join
Message patients while they’re still in the Waiting Room
2. Opening and closing the Sidebar
To open the Sidebar it, click the Participants icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen
To close it, click the X in the upper-right corner of the panel
This lets you see participant details when needed and keep the video feed clear by default.
3. The Control Bar: Essential session tools
The Control Bar sits below the video, in its own dedicated space. Here you’ll find familiar controls, including:
Camera and Microphone
Apps
More menu with Connection Status and troubleshooting options
End Call button
When Focus Mode is active, the notification bar and call controls hide after five seconds without mouse movement. Move your mouse to bring them back immediately.
4. Session timer location
The session timer now appears in the bottom-left corner of the screen. It’s visible when you need it, while staying unobtrusive so it doesn’t draw attention away from the visit.
5. Focus Mode: Fewer on-screen distractions
Focus Mode gives you an immersive full-screen view. After five seconds without mouse movement, the notification bar and call controls fade away. Simply move your mouse to bring them back.
An open sidebar stays visible when the controls hide. Focus Mode also works with Picture-in-Picture and low data mode. In low data mode, video keeps its smaller tile size rather than stretching to fill the screen.
6. Connection Status: Understand connection issues
If your call quality changes, open the in-call three-dot menu and select Connection Status.
The menu shows whether connection issues are detected and whether audio fallback is active. Where possible, it also explains whether an issue affects your connection, another participant, or multiple participants. If the source cannot be reliably determined, it shows a general message about the call.
When audio fallback activates, a yellow dot appears on the three-dot menu and beside Connection Status. General connection warnings do not trigger this dot.
FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions
