Transfer allows you to hand off care in real time, whether the patient is waiting to be seen or already on an active call.

Available on Premium plans ⭐ Supported by all roles

What is Transfer?

Transfer allows you to move a patient from your room to another room within the same clinic.

You can transfer a patient:

  • From your Waiting Room (before a call starts)

  • During an active 1:1 call

  • During a Group Call

  • From a Personal Room

  • From a Shared Room (Premium only)

Transfer keeps the visit connected and avoids requiring the patient to re-check in.

How to use Transfer

For a patient in the Waiting Room

Transfers are done one patient at a time from the patient’s Patient Information Card.

  1. Open the patient’s Patient Information Card

  2. Click Transfer

  3. Select the room you’d like to transfer the patient to

  4. Click Transfer to confirm

What happens next?

  • The patient is moved to the receiving provider’s Waiting Room

  • The receiving provider sees the patient appear in their Waiting Room

  • The receiving provider sees a note on the Patient Information Card:
    “Transferred by [user name]”

  • The receiving provider can admit the patient when ready

On your side, the Patient Information Card will show: “Transferred to [waiting room name]” for a few seconds.

For a patient in an active session

Transfers are done one patient at a time from the patient’s Patient Information Card.

  1. Open the patient’s Patient Information Card

  2. Click Transfer

  3. Select the room you’d like to transfer the patient to

  4. Click Transfer to confirm

The patient does not need to check in again. What happens next depends on whether you are in a 1:1 call or a Group Call:

If you transfer a patient during a 1:1 call:

  • The current session ends for you

  • The patient is transferred to the receiving provider or room

  • The receiving provider sees: “Transferred by [user name]” on the Patient Information Card

If you transfer a patient during a Group Call:

  • The transferred patient is removed from the Group Call

  • You remain in the Group Call

  • The patient is transferred to the receiving provider or room

  • The receiving provider sees: “Transferred by [user name]”

What the patient sees

Transfer is designed to be clear and simple for patients. If a patient is transferred, they will see:

  1. A loading page with a message that says:
“Taking you to [provider name]’s room now”

  2. The new Waiting Room and a confirmation message that says:

“You have been transferred to [provider name]’s room”

Patients can be transferred between:

  • Personal Room → Personal Room

  • Personal Room → Shared Room

  • Shared Room → Personal Room

  • Shared Room → Shared Room

💡 The patient does not need to refresh the page or re-enter their information to transfer to a different room or provider

Transfer with apps

If you transfer a patient to another provider or room during a session, any active apps you are using will close, and no session data from those apps will be shared. The receiving provider can open any apps they need to continue patient care.
