All providers in the Optum network must use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform

Updated over a week ago

Optum Care Network recently published a memo stating that all providers in their network are now required to use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. What does this mean and how can you tell if your current telehealth solution is HIPAA-compliant?

Make sure you have a business associate agreement

The HIPAA Privacy Rule requires healthcare providers to have a signed business associate agreement (BAA) with their telehealth solution. For more information, see this list of HIPAA-compliant platforms on the US Department of Health and Human Services website.

Doxy.me is one of the few HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms in the world that offers a free BAA to all users. We offer telehealth services for solo providers and clinics.
