How to apply a virtual background before an appointment

  1. On your Dashboard, navigate to your Self-preview video

  2. Click the More menu and select Change background

  3. Select any of the background options to preview how it looks

  4. Once you’ve found the background you’d like to use, exit Virtual background

  5. Your background will appear on all appointments that you host

  6. Use these steps to change the background any time you’d like

  2. Click the More menu and select Change background

  3. Select any of the background options to preview how it looks

  4. Once you’ve found the background you’d like to use, exit Virtual background

  5. Your background will appear on all appointments that you host

  6. Use these steps to change the background any time you’d like

How to turn off Virtual background

  1. Return to the Virtual background modal

  2. Select “None” under “No background & blur”

  3. Exit the modal

In call: Turn off Virtual background

On Dashboard: Turn off Virtual background

Technical specifications

  • Currently only available desktop/laptop devices with Chromium-based browsers (e.g., Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge)

  • Using blurred or virtual backgrounds during a video call can make your computer work harder, using more processing power and memory. This extra load might weaken your call quality and cause your computer's fan to run continuously.

  • Our minimum suggested device specs for using virtual backgrounds is as followed:

    • CPU — Intel Core i5 (with 4 cores or higher) or Apple Silicon M1 (or higher)

    • 8G RAM (or more)

    • Dedicated GPU (for example, NVIDIA)

    • Browser-enabled Graphics/Hardware Acceleration Enabled
