Frequently asked questions

How do I add an interpreter to my appointment?

Learn more here.

Do I need a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Voyce?

No, you do not need a separate BAA with Voyce. We have a BAA in place with Voyce, and as long as you have a BAA with doxy.me, your business associate obligations with Voyce are met. Voyce operates as a subcontractor under doxy.me’s BAA, and doxy.me is responsible for ensuring compliance.

What does it cost?

Voyce interpretation costs $0.99 per minute and is billed monthly to the payment method that doxy.me has on file. Billable minutes start when the interpreter accepts the request and enters the Waiting Room. Billable minutes stop when you end the call or remove the interpreter. You will only be billed when you use the service, no monthly minimums or set-up fees.

How long will the interpreter wait in my queue?

To be respectful of your time and theirs, an interpreter will decide whether to stay in the call or leave after 5 minutes. An interpreter may leave an appointment if they are not needed, but this will vary by situation. If an interpreter leaves after you've waited for them and you still require translation services, please request another interpreter.

I tried adding an interpreter but they couldn't join the appointment. What can I do?

They may be experiencing a connection issue. If an interpreter can't join the call because of a connection issue, they will mark the call as dropped and you won't be billed for their time. Then, you may request another interpreter.

What certifications do Voyce interpreters have?

You can find more about interpreter certifications here or contact Voyce directly with questions.

Can I use Interpreter to translate with non-English start languages?

The Interpreter app supports English as the starting language. This means that the language that will be translated will be to and from English.

Example: There's an English-speaking provider and a Spanish-speaking patient. A Spanish interpreter would translate what the provider is saying in English to Spanish for the patient. The interpreter would also translate what the Spanish-speaking patient is saying into English for the provider.

Can I begin a call with only an interpreter?

Yes. To begin a call with an interpreter only, please select the App button on the Sidebar and click Interpreter. Complete your interpreter request, wait for a match to be found and added to your Waiting Room, then begin a call.

How long will I wait for an interpreter to accept my request?

It depends on the language you've selected and the number of interpreters available to help at that time. The average wait time is 20 seconds, but this can take longer. When you select a language using the Interpreter app, you'll see a wait time estimate to help you plan.
